Each link
  1. 1. Real personClaimed

Person · Claimed. Proxies register with true identity details (business name, address, phone, email, tax ID), may hold only one account, may not share it, and must personally perform each order; ProxyPics may require identity verification. Background checks by a third party are optional, paid by the Proxy, and needed only for interior-access and appointment orders. Marketing says 'Tiered Proxies (Licensed and Background Checked)'. public evidence

Still open: Most Proxies may not be background-checked: the check is voluntary and only gates interior and appointment orders, and the Participation Agreement says ProxyPics does 'not conduct any screening or other verification with respect to Clients or Proxies'. How identity is confirmed, and how account sharing is detected, is not published. Orders that need no licence go to all nearby Proxies.

  2. 2. Captured locallyNot stated

    Camera · Not stated

Still open: Not a signed capture, so none (STANDARD §3). What is stated: 'Camera Roll Locked' feature so photos cannot be imported from the gallery. Whether a live camera pointed at a screen or printout is detected. No C2PA or other signed capture.

Place · Claimed. Georeference: photos get GPS coordinates and are pinned to a map; the app prevents taking photos outside a set radius of the subject; the FAQ says all photos are geo-tagged; GPS spoofing is banned in the Participation Agreement public evidence

Still open: Radius size and GPS-spoofing resistance are not published. The public API schema exposes only the request's latitude and longitude, not per-photo coordinates (they may appear in the PDF report).

Needs both: the weaker one counts.

  3. 3. Genuine deviceNot stated

    App · Not stated

Still open: Photos must be taken inside the ProxyPics app (the FAQ says outside-app photos are refused by 'anti-fraud technology') and proxies may not spoof location, timestamps or device information, but no app-integrity or attestation check is documented, and emulators or modified clients are not addressed. In Direct mode the photo taker is the point of contact (often the owner). Capture in the provider's own app or rig is not a server-verified attestation (STANDARD §3).

  4. 4. Sealed captureNot stated

Content · Claimed. AI plus a ProxyPics quality-control team review submissions for quality, order requirements and fraud, including orders the AI did not flag; the client can approve or reject each completed request through the API within 120 hours, for wrong property or work not requested, and rejected jobs are redone or reposted public evidence

Still open: Review criteria, error and fraud rates, and whether staged scenes or wrong-property photos are caught

Counts only with a stated signing mechanism (C2PA, a manifest).

  5. 5. Known timestampReported

Time · Claimed. 'Time Stamped Photos ... validate the exact date and time the photo was taken'; terms require capture at or near the time of the visit public evidence

Still open: Whether the timestamp is device clock or server-side, and whether it is signed. The public API schema gives only order-level times (`completed_at`), not per-photo capture times. The FAQ says some clients 'require us to time stamp or geo-code the photos', suggesting it may not apply to every order.

A time stated, not attested (RFC 3161, a log): Reported.

  6. 6. Tracked in transitNot stated

Custody record (optional field) · Not stated

  7. 7. Independently verifiedNot stated

    Cross-check · Not stated

Still open: No public method for independent second captures or cross-checks of the same property

  8. 8. Delivered to youNot stated

Notes

About. Marketplace that sends nearby 'Proxies' (independent-contractor data collectors) to a US address to take photos and answer questions in the ProxyPics app, ordered through a public, self-serve REST API with a sandbox and webhooks. A 'Direct' mode instead texts a point of contact (such as the homeowner or property staff) a link so they capture the photos themselves.

Price. from_usd 0 means not published, not free. No price list on proxypics.com or in the API docs. The Participation Agreement says Clients are charged a fee for each request, in USD, that fees may vary, and that Clients should check the fees each time they use the Platform; the Client is billed as soon as the Proxy submits. Each API photo request carries a `cost` in cents (including any `price_boost`), so the price is visible after the request is created, and a PhotoRequestCostUpdated webhook reports fee changes. A 2018 BuiltIn Chicago article reported a flat $5 per photo with the photographer keeping $3.25; that is eight years old and not used as the price.

Coverage. Advertised as nationwide US, 24/7 with no blackout dates, day or night. Network size claims vary by source: 180K+ data collectors (Crowdsource and Real Estate pages), 395,000-plus Proxy panel and 415,000+ assignments fulfilled in 2025 (HousingWire profile). Rural density and fill rates are not published.

Timing. Crowdsource page: 'Delivered Under 24 Hours'; Real Estate page: 'we measure our completion times in hours'; HousingWire profile: 96% of assignments completed in under 24 hours, often under two hours in high-volume markets.

Licence. ProxyPics owns the deliverables, not the buyer. Under the Participation Agreement (which covers Clients and Proxies) Proxy work product is a work made for hire for ProxyPics and all rights vest in ProxyPics; ProxyPics 'may grant Clients and its Affiliates the right to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and otherwise exploit such work product in connection with Client requests and ProxyPics's business'. The Platform Provider terms also assign all Submissions to ProxyPics. No public client licence states the scope of that grant, resale or AI training. ProxyPics processes work product and metadata for quality assurance, fraud prevention, support, product improvement and service delivery, and may use de-identified, aggregated data for analytics; AI or model training is not named.
