Compiled from public sources, unclaimed. What they mean

Each link
  1. 1. Real personClaimed

Person · Claimed. One account and one device per person, with no account sharing (Community Guidelines). Premise may run background and security checks at its discretion (Terms of Use), and the 2019 brochure lists account-duplication checks. public evidence

Still open: No identity check is required for ordinary tasks; sign-up is by Google or Apple credentials or a username and password. KYC applies only to the Premise Wallet. Contributors reach customers only as anonymous IDs, so a buyer cannot check who captured an item.

  2. 2. Captured locallyNot stated

    Camera · Not stated

Still open: Not a signed capture, so none (STANDARD §3). What is stated: Image Analysis in quality control checks that photos are 'not blurry or from a computer, and of the correct subject'. How screen or generated images are detected is not published. There is no C2PA or other signed capture, and Premise is not on the C2PA conforming products list.

Place · Claimed. The app records precise check-in and observation locations. Quality control includes location verification and machine-learning anti-spoofing. The guidelines ban mocking or spoofing location, and starting and finishing a task in different places. public evidence

Still open: How the coordinates are checked is undocumented, and no public proof is offered for any item.

Needs both: the weaker one counts.

  3. 3. Genuine deviceClaimed

App · Claimed. Tasks are done only in the Premise mobile app; the guidelines ban other access and 'auto' or 'macro' software. The app collects the names of installed apps so Premise can detect ones that 'doctor' location data or the clock (an installed-app scan, not attestation). public evidence

Still open: No device or app attestation (such as Play Integrity or App Attest) is documented.

  4. 4. Sealed captureNot stated

Content · Claimed. Every submission goes through automatic (machine-learning) and manual quality control and fraud detection before it reaches the dashboard. The task brief defines the deliverable. public evidence

Still open: Rejection and error rates are not published.

Counts only with a stated signing mechanism (C2PA, a manifest).

  5. 5. Known timestampReported

Time · Claimed. Submissions carry timestamps (2019 brochure). The app checks installed apps to catch any that 'doctor' the clock. public evidence

Still open: Whether the timestamp comes from the device or the server, and whether the buyer receives a capture time for each item, is not documented.

A time stated, not attested (RFC 3161, a log): Reported.

  6. 6. Tracked in transitNot stated

Custody record (optional field) · Not stated

  7. 7. Independently verifiedClaimed

Cross-check · Claimed. 'crowdsourced confirmation' on top of manual quality control (2019 brochure). public evidence

Still open: Only the 2019 brochure mentions it, and current pages do not. How often items are confirmed, and by whom, is not stated.

  8. 8. Delivered to youNot stated

Delivery receipt (optional field) · Not stated

Notes

About. Premise turns a customer's questions into paid tasks in its mobile app. Contributors in over 140 countries complete them by taking photos, videos and audio recordings, answering surveys or reporting what they see at a place. Submissions go through automatic and manual quality control, and results reach the customer in a dashboard or as a raw export. It is sold for retail audits, price and market monitoring, point-of-interest mapping and verification, and situation monitoring for development and humanitarian work.

Price. No price published; the only route is Book a Demo. The SaaS Agreement bills in US dollars under an executed Order Document, with fees payable up front unless the Order Document says otherwise, auto-renewing terms (one year by default) and no refunds. Negotiated pricing is confidential. from_usd 0 means not published.

Coverage. Company-stated: 'over 140 countries', '6M+ Contributors Worldwide', '25M+ Submissions per Year', '2.3M+ Unique Points of Interest', and over 120,000 traditional-trade store visits a month (December 2024). No country list or density is published. The contributor terms exclude people resident in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria and Crimea. For new regions the 2019 brochure gives 2-4 weeks to recruit a network.

Timing. 'If a network is already in place where your study is situated, your data acquisition campaign can begin in as little as 24-48 hours. For new regions, we can recruit and train a network in 2-4 weeks' (2019 brochure); 'swiftly gather same-day data' (homepage).

Licence. Under the public SaaS Agreement, data 'collected specifically for Customer' under an Order Document (Collected Data) is owned by the customer, and Premise assigns 'all intellectual property rights it has' in it. Data Premise sells to other customers too (Licensed Data) comes with a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence for internal business purposes only and 'may not be resold or otherwise directly commercialized' (the resale bar applies to Licensed Data only; Collected Data is yours). A separately negotiated master agreement overrides these terms. Contributors keep their content but grant Premise a non-exclusive, perpetual, sublicensable licence to exploit it for any purpose, including by the customer and the customer's clients. The terms do not name AI training by buyers, or whether Premise trains on customer data.
