  1. 1. Real personClaimed

Person · Claimed. 'Thousands of trained operators' in kitchens, warehouses, offices, vehicles and industrial settings.

Still open: How operators are vetted, identified or consented is not published.

  2. 2. Captured locallyNot stated

    Camera · Not stated

Still open: Not a signed capture, so none (STANDARD §3). What is stated: Base kit: RGB-D stereo depth cameras with IMU and multi-camera sync; egocentric head and wrist cameras at 1080p/30fps. No C2PA or signed capture; Encord is not on the C2PA conforming products list.

    Place · Not stated

Still open: No location proof is documented; the place is the lab, a field site or the client's premises, as agreed.

  3. 3. Genuine deviceNot stated

    App · Not stated

Still open: Encord supplies a standard capture kit (cameras, grippers, mounts, synchronisation), but no app or device attestation is documented; client-provided gripper hardware is also used. Capture in the provider's own app or rig is not a server-verified attestation (STANDARD §3).

  4. 4. Sealed captureNot stated

Content · Claimed. Protocol, tasks and quality criteria are defined with the client and piloted in the lab; 'every episode is classified, synchronised, and aligned to your model'.

Still open: Acceptance criteria and QC results are not published. The multi-stage review with audit trails Encord describes is for annotation, not capture.

Counts only with a stated signing mechanism (C2PA, a manifest).

Notes

About. Encord collects robotics training data to order: teleoperation, handheld-gripper (UMI), robot-specific and egocentric capture. Each protocol is designed and piloted in its Bay Area lab, then run by trained in-field operators or on site at the client's factory or warehouse. Sales only: collection is not priced, and turnaround is not published. Its standard terms give the client ownership of data Encord enters into the platform on the client's behalf.

Price. Collection is not priced. The pricing page lists only platform tiers (Starter, Team, Enterprise) with no dollar amounts; Enterprise is 'Contact sales'.

Coverage. Pilots run in Encord's Bay Area lab. Encord says it 'operates across multiple geographies' but lists none; it also collects on site at the client's factory or warehouse.

Timing. No turnaround is published. Encord says only that collection 'always starts at Encord facilities ... piloted in a controlled lab environment before scaling' and that its platform removes 'weeks of pre-processing'.

Licence. Standard Terms of Service (US and UK versions, effective 27 Jun 2025) define Client Input as data 'entered into the Services ... by Encord on Client's behalf during Professional Services' and say the Client owns all Client Input (s.4.5); Encord gets a licence to use it only 'to provide the Services' (s.4.3). Collected data 'flows directly into Encord's platform'. Deliverables are whatever the Order Form names. Whether collected robotics data is Client Input (owned by the client) or a Deliverable depends on the Order Form, so buyer_owns_output is conditional on that. Encord may use Usage Data to improve its products and share it only if aggregated and de-identified (s.8.2). The terms do not mention AI training, resale of collected data, or whether Encord may train on client data. Contributor consent terms are not published.
